Verge NECCS – Short report by Trina
2009 Green Mountain Cyclo-Cross Weekend. Week 1 of Verge NECCS, Williston, VT.
The rain fell Sunday morning… Edwin’s race went off at 10:30 and it was still raining. The course was hilly, greasey, and had some super fun bmx humpets halfway through the course. Edwin placed 6th. My race didn’t go until 2pm. The rain had stopped and the track was drying out, by the time I started it was not as greasey as when Edwin raced. I finally found my sea legs on Sunday. I placed 8th.
Here are the results:

Manzanita 9/20/09 – Race Report by Matt | Photo credit: Scott Mosher
After a long 8 months of racing on the road, it was nice to dust off the cross bike and mix things up a bit on the dirt. Having done less than 15 cyclocross races in my entire life I may not be very experienced, but I definitely know that the competition in NorCal is very steeped with talent. Although I placed 2nd overall in the BASP last year in the Masters 35+B’s, I knew that stepping up to the 35 A’s this year was a whole different ball game.
Driving up to the race from San Luis Obispo with fellow Team Rambuski Law rider Ben Lerner we talked about our expectations for the first race of the season and whether or not we were prepared for the pain of racing 50 minutes flat out again.
Expectations = Low
Prepared for pain = Not really
